PREP Post-Bachelors Researcher (US Citizen)
This position is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. NIST collaborates with academic institutions to give post‑bachelors students research experience in various scientific fields. The role is based in the Applied Economics Office (AEO) of the Engineering Laboratory (EL), focusing on community resilience planning and economic impact analysis of disruptive events.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and interpret data related to economic impacts of community resilience projects.
- Review relevant literature and produce comprehensive literature reviews.
- Design data collection instruments, such as surveys.
- Write reports and research articles for peer‑reviewed journals.
- Publish findings in refereed journals and technical research series.
- Communicate research results at professional conferences.
- US citizen.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related field.
- Minimum one year of relevant research experience.
- Proficiency in Stata (hypothesis testing, causal analysis, data visualization).
- Proficiency in Zotero or similar reference management.
- Proficiency in Excel for large‑scale data cleaning, validation, and visualization.
- At least one peer‑reviewed publication in a professional journal.
- At least one first‑author technical publication.
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- At least one conference presentation.
- Experience working with LLMs.
- Proficiency in LaTeX (Overleaf).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Logical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
- Patience and attention to detail.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
