General Description

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Ophthalmology Department at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. We are seeking a self-motivated, highly driven, and independent candidate to join our exciting projects, which include exploring the effect NF1 mutation on the development of human CNS cells and discovery remyelination-based drugs for demyelinating diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis. As a part of a dynamic research team, the candidate will work with Dr.

Xitiz Chamling, Ph.D. and collaborate with the laboratory of Dr.Don Zack, MD, PhD., Dr. Peter Calabresi, MD., Dr. Lena Smirnova, Ph.D., Wilmer Bioinformatics team, and other renowned researchers at Johns Hopkins. The project will involve CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing of human pluripotent stem cells, differentiating these cells into various neuronal and glial cells, conducting drugs screening, and performing single cell gene-expression studies.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.D. with relevant experience in biomedical research.
  • Proven ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Expertise in stem cell technology, cell and molecular biology, and genome editing.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), particularly in generating libraries and analyzing scRNA-seq data.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting.
