Data Scientist, Research Scientist, Clinical Research
The Department of Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, seeks a Biostatistician to work as an integral part of a data analysis center study team. The Biostatistician will collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, and investigators in a variety of fields to manage and analyze complex multicenter longitudinal data. The successful applicant will contribute to the development and application of statistical methods to advance the scientific goals of a national child’s health study.
Responsibilities- Use and expand existing SAS and R programs to clean and organize incoming JHHCC and CNICS data.
- Identify potential problems with study data and collaborate with data managers to resolve issues.
- Read concept sheets and draft statistical analysis plans specific to research objectives.
- Generate analytic data sets, codebooks, and other documentation.
- Analyze individual-level data to answer scientific questions of interest.
- Prepare data tables and figures for publication and presentation at scientific meetings.
- Contribute to technical/scientific writing and review drafts of concept sheets, reports, posters, and manuscripts, particularly descriptions of statistical methods and interpretation of results.
- Document decision‑making during the conduct of studies and archive code for reproducibility of research findings.
- Navigate shared files and contribute to shared files to create a transparent research workspace.
- Assist with writing the approach section of research proposals.
- Attend bi‑weekly staff meetings and provide status updates on data processing and research projects.
- Use professional judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Other duties as assigned.
The core responsibility for the position will be data analysis, using a broad range of analytic methods.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Knowledge of R.
- One year of experience analyzing longitudinal data in the context of a research study.
- Experience with advanced methods (e.g., multiple imputation, propensity scores, geospatial analyses,‑omics or non‑omics).

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position.
