Biologist (HLA Typing) – Kelly Government Solutions
This long‑term contract supports the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Salary range: $40.00/hr – $43.00/hr.

- Perform work in the DTM HLA Laboratory, including major laboratory procedures
- Perform Specimen processing, DNA extraction and quantitation using manual and automated methods
- Molecular HLA typing via PCR, SSP, SSO, and SBT technologies
- Facets of next‑generation sequencing
- Agarose preparation and gel electrophoresis; photo‑documentation of results
- Interpretation of all HLA typing results
- Support HLA staff in communication with transplant groups and documentation
- Perform utilization troubleshooting on current HLA analysis software and database management systems
- Various HLA antibody screening methods and interpretation
- Work with staff on identifying unusual HLA antibody and typing patterns, supporting them in understanding antibody identification complexities
- Perform final review of analysis and determine discrepancies requiring resolution
- Participate in review and audit of laboratory records and SOPs to improve efficiency and effectiveness; maintain related documents
- Participate in QC and quality assurance records review to assure compliance with accreditation levels
- Maintain documentation related to maintenance monitoring and quality assurance practices
- Provide leadership to implement changes upon request
- Work on test assay development, validation, and implementation of new equipment and reagents in the sequencing area; maintain related documents
- Collaborate on evaluation of new reagents or assays for antibody detection that may benefit the laboratory
- Perform validation and recording of specimens in appropriate software applications
- Apply troubleshooting skills in software applications and instrumentation
- Monitor the quality assurance practices in all laboratory aspects
- Coordinate teaching of fellows, students, and staff regarding new procedures and techniques
- Work on various research projects to document potential clinical applications
- MS degree in a related field
- Minimum of 7–10 years of related experience
- American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics certification preferred
