- Support the development and implementation of a strategic plan to test access, governance, and utilization challenges associated with the BBC/PELL linked datasets.
- Contribute to framing and refining research questions related to pregnancy, preterm birth, child health outcomes, and chronic disease impacts using linked administrative data.
- Assist in exploratory analyses, modeling, and simulations, including the application of innovative technologies such as AI-informed approaches and systems modeling.
- Apply syndemic theory and systems thinking to maternal and child health research using linked datasets.
- Support ongoing qualitative (interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (survey-based) evaluation activities in collaboration with consultants and Westat.
- Assist with the development of discussion guides, survey instruments, data collection protocols, and IRB-related documentation as needed.
- Conduct or support data analysis using appropriate qualitative and quantitative software packages.
- Contribute to synthesis of findings and preparation of evaluation reports.
- Support the development and implementation of an application and selection process for doctoral and postdoctoral trainees participating in the project.
- Assist with integration of BBC/PELL linked database training into the MHRC Student Fellowship Mentoring Program, in collaboration with KKI.
- Participate in seminars and learning activities designed to strengthen research team capacity in maternal and child health science and data use.
- Work collaboratively with MHRCC, MHRC partners (MMC-SACS, UTA), and JHU technical assistance teams.
- Assist in documenting and sharing lessons learned with other MHRC research centers.
- Support preparation of manuscripts, reports, presentations, and other dissemination products.
- Assist with drafting HRSA-required progress reports, summaries, and deliverables for internal review by the faculty team and final submission by MHRCC.
- Ensure project activities align with HRSA expectations, timelines, and evaluation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Data Science, or a related field, or near completion at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
- Familiarity with large datasets, administrative data, or linked data systems.
- Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-institutional, collaborative research environment.
- Background in maternal and child health, perinatal epidemiology, or health equity research.
- Experience with data governance, data access processes, or restricted datasets.
- Familiarity with systems science, syndemic theory, or computational approaches such as modeling, simulation, AI-informed methods.
- Experience contributing to federal grant reporting or evaluation activities.
