Position OverviewWe are seeking an Outdoor Program Coordinator to support programming. This role includes planning and leading outdoor activities in Baltimore, coordinating with school staff, meeting with students and parents, organizing school program fundraisers, and assisting on summer trips to Utah. The ideal candidate has a passion for the outdoors and experiential education.
Key Responsibilities Program Planning & Coordination- Build and maintain relationships with Baltimore partner schools, meet and coordinate with school staff.
- Organize monthly educational outdoor activities in spring and fall in Baltimore with students. Coordinate transportation, food, and logistics for local activities.
- Meet with students and parents before activities to provide information and support. Build and maintain relationships/rapport with participants.
- Lead outdoor activities, adapting instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and educational needs. Facilitate meaningful discussions that encourage reflection and personal growth.
- Involve students in local fundraising efforts and service projects, teaching them skills in leadership and community engagement.
- Create social media posts to share WILD’s impact and engage the community (optional).
- Co-lead and supervise summer Utah trips and daily activities, ensuring student safety and engagement.
- Passion for working with Baltimore underserved youth and the outdoors.
- Experience working with middle and high school students, preferably in an educational or mentorship role.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate logistics and collaborate with partners.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and be flexible in an outdoor, dynamic environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Holds a valid driver's license with a strong driving record and the ability to drive long distances safely.
- Possesses mental stamina, adaptability, and emotional maturity to supervise students and support co-instructors.
- Be sufficiently fit to participate in physical activities, including but not limited to hiking, climbing, paddling, ropes courses, running, ability to lift, crawl, bend, carry, push, and pull.
- Minimum CPR/First Aid certification (Wilderness First Responder preferred) or ability to obtain.
