The Research Evidence Based Registered Nurse demonstrates leadership when providing expertise in developing and implementing Evidence Based Practice (EBP) program and Research initiatives that supports improving patient care. The EBP Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing a fundamental understanding of EBP education to Nursing Staff, with flexibility to adapt or change learning strategies based on the assessment of learning needs within the healthcare organization.
The position is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising research activities. This role assumes responsibility for coordinating education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. It follows procedures in alignment with established policies and guidelines and influences care outcomes through collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team. Core performance elements include knowledge of and active participation in unit- and program-level quality improvement initiatives, as well as customer service programs.
The individual in this role demonstrates leadership by providing expertise in developing and implementing Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) programs and research initiatives that support improvements in patient care. This role is responsible for developing EBP education at VAHMCS and delivering this education to Nursing Staff. Additional responsibilities include oversight of the initiation and completion processes for Research, EBP, or PI/QI projects.
The role serves as a dedicated mentor and preceptor for DNP and MSN students, committed to shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders. It encompasses guiding students through their academic and clinical journeys while ensuring adherence to the highest ethical standards in research. In partnership with other institutions and organizations, the role ensures Institutional Review Board (IRB) compliance, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity and ethical foundation of research initiatives.
