The Registered Nurse - Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising staff education. He/she delivers a fundamental understanding of adult learning principles and a lifelong learner that can practice with flexibility to adapt or change learning strategies based on the assessment of learning needs within the healthcare organization. The Clinical Nurse Educator assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates educational needs to facilitate learner development and skill training of clinical staff.
He/she utilizes innovative teaching strategies, assessment skills, and evaluation of outcomes. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of education focused on staff education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the healthcare continuum. The incumbent provides education for the staff of Sterile Processing Services in accordance with guidelines and directives. He/she is accountable for adhering to the established policies, standards of care, and standards of practice.
As the educator they must demonstrate the ability to assess and prioritize training needs of the staff and complete competency assessments in coordination with Management Teams and Lead Trainers. They must also utilize computer skills to create and maintain databases, performance indicators, create documents and navigate multiple systems. Some travel will be required between Baltimore and Perry Point facilities.
