Part-Time Lactation Counselor, Day/Evening

Under general supervision, assumes responsibility for the nursing management and evaluation of care provided to patients who participate in the practice of breastfeeding. Functions as a primary care provider in collaboration with physicians and other health team members. Plans, implements, and evaluates educational programs related to breastfeeding.

Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required.

2 years full-time (or equivalent) directly related clinical experience.

• Knowledge of techniques and the application of lactation theory.
• Skill in written and oral communication.
• Skill in using computers and personal productivity applications.
• Ability to instruct and support patients.
• Ability to assess patients, plan effective interventions, and evaluate outcomes from those interventions.

• Current registration with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
• IBCLC certification required.
• Healthcare Provider CPR biennial.
• Additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) required upon hire.

• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time.
• Visual acuity, manual dexterity, and physical mobility; hear and communicate orally.
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking, and lifting (up to 20 lbs).

• Normal patient care environment of the post‑partum nursery area.
• Routine exposure to body fluids.

$31.25 - $48.02 per hour.
