Med Star Medical Group Anesthesiology is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Acute Pain Service (APS). This position is based in the Baltimore region, with a dynamic and collaborative role split between Med Star Union Memorial Hospital and Med Star Good Samaritan Hospital
. The NP will rotate between these two closely affiliated sites, fostering a well‑rounded clinical experience while remaining part of a cohesive team.
Both hospitals are part of the same regional leadership and are located within close proximity of one another, yet each offers distinct clinical environments and patient populations. This structure offers the NP diverse case exposure and a versatile skillset, supported by consistent protocols, shared resources, and strong interdepartmental relationships across both sites.
Position OverviewThe Nurse Practitioner will function as a clinical consultant within a multidisciplinary team, working alongside anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other medical professionals to manage both acute and chronic pain for hospitalized patients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Rounding daily on new and established patients
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and perioperative evaluations
- Performing history and physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing care plans
- Prescribing and managing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain treatments
- Managing epidural and peripheral nerve catheters
- Documenting clinical findings in progress notes
- Educating patients and families on pain management strategies
- Providing pain management education and serving as a resource for team members across the institution
Hours are Monday - Friday 7a-3p
