Base pay range$40.00/hr - $43.00/hr
About the RolePublic Sector Solutions Group (PS2G) is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide dedicated onsite nursing support for a single student within a Washington, DC school setting. This role focuses on student‑centered care, ensuring the child’s safety, health stability, dignity, and full participation in the school day.
You will serve as the student’s primary medical support while collaborating closely with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference through consistent, high‑quality care in an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide continuous 1:1 nursing care and supervision for the assigned student during the school day, including classroom time, meals, recess, transportation support (if applicable), and school activities
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
- Monitor and manage chronic health conditions such as respiratory disorders, seizure disorders, diabetes, severe allergies, mobility needs, GI/feeding support, or other complex medical needs
- Perform skilled nursing procedures as required (such as trach care, suctioning, oxygen support, G‑tube care, catheterization, blood glucose monitoring, etc., if applicable to the child)
- Recognize and respond rapidly to health emergencies or medical changes
- Conduct ongoing assessment of the student’s physical and emotional well‑being
- Document all care activities, treatments, incidents, and health observations accurately and securely
- Develop, update, and implement an Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP) in collaboration with providers and family
- Support IEP/504 planning and school‑based accommodations
- Provide age‑appropriate health education to support student independence when appropriate
- Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Participate in care coordination with physicians, therapists, school administrators, and the student’s family
- Promote a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive school environment that prioritizes safety and student success
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC
- Current CPR/AED certification (required)
- Experience in pediatrics, school nursing, home health, special needs care, or acute/critical care preferred
- Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations
- Excellent communication, professionalism, and collaboration skills
