Job Description:
This is a float position covering the HICU, BHU, and Burk 2 LTC Vent Unit. The role requires floating between the ICU Step-Down unit, Brain Health Unit, and the Burk 2 Long-Term Care Ventilator Unit. Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience First-time travelers accepted ACLS and BLS required Every other weekend required HICU (High-Intensity Care Unit) 40-bed unit caring for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent interventions Provides ICU step-down, intermediate care, telemetry, and Med/Surg-level care Patients are stable but critically ill and may deteriorate rapidly Semi-private rooms; some equipped with telemetry monitoring Patient population includes:
Post–cardiac arrest Pneumonia Sepsis Acute hypoxic respiratory failure CVA (stroke) Acute rehabilitation needs Complex respiratory, cardiac, renal, and GI/GU conditions Equipment and therapies include: G-tubes, PICC lines, chest tubes High-flow nasal cannula Tracheostomies and mechanical ventilation Blood transfusions Non-titratable drips BHU (Brain Health Unit) 60 beds across two floors (MG-20 and M2-40) Patients admitted with medical and neurological diagnoses Average length of stay: 20–25 days Care includes:
Medication management Rehabilitation services Group activities and one-on-one therapeutic exercises Burk 2 – Ventilator Unit 18–23-bed long-term care unit Serves patients with chronic and complex respiratory conditions Many patients require ventilator support Nurses must demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills to:
Assess patient status Implement nursing interventions Develop and update care plans to improve outcomes Special training required for:
Ventilator care Responding to unit-specific alarms Shift Information:
Night shift, 3×12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
