Experience in recovery of post-operative cardiac surgery patients in a dedicated cardiovascular ICU.

License: RN License

Certifications:

BLS

Must-Have:

ACLS preferred

Critical Care Certification preferred

Trauma course preferred

Experience in a dedicated open-heart unit receiving patients directly from the operating room preferred.

Description:

The cardiovascular surgical ICU is an 18-bed unit.
It provides care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery.
It also cares for patients undergoing cardiac transplantation, lung transplantation, the placement of ventricular assist devices, and other complex procedures.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2.

Experience with ventilators, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires and pacemakers, titration of vasoactive infusions, Level 1 intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is required.
