Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Surgical ICU night shift position requiring current CV ICU cardiac surgery recovery experience and a MD or compact RN license.

• Work in an 18-bed Cardiovascular Surgical ICU caring for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, cardiac transplantation, lung transplantation, ventricular assist device placement, and other complex procedures
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Available assignments are either 36 or 48 hours per week
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2
• Unit performs specialized procedures including vent management, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheter monitoring, management of epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive drip titration, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and ECMO
• Epic EMR is used
• Provide critical care to post-operative cardiovascular patients, including those with mechanical support devices
• Work in a collaborative team with strong clinical support
• Orientation sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month
• Accepts local candidates at the same rate except for those from Howard County General
• First day and holiday assignments may vary based on rotation
• Strong candidates are preferred for this role

• Active MD or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Recent experience in a dedicated CV ICU recovering post-op cardiac surgery patients required
• Must have experience in an open-heart unit receiving patients directly from the OR
• Experience with mechanical ventilation, CRRT, Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive titration, level 1 IABP, and ECMO required
• Experience at a facility with 500+ beds required
• ACLS certification and Critical Care certification preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
