Registered Nurse - Nurse Manager - Careview

The Nurse Manager (NM) for Care View provides 24/7 oversight of the Nursing Officers of the Day and Safety Observation Technicians. Ensuring operations, safe staffing, patient flow, clinical escalation and centralized monitoring where applicable. The NM ensures compliance with VA policies and accreditation standards, and collaborates with interdisciplinary leadership to support patient safety, access to care, and high-reliability operations.

The Registered Nurse Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. The NM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.

Enhances care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.

The NM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Promotes alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.

The incumbent manages and oversees all Nursing Officers of the Day (NODs) at all three campuses:
Baltimore, Loch Raven, and Perry Point. The NM ensures that the NODs understand the concepts of staffing methodology and can apply its principles as required. The incumbent will ensure that the NOD offices lead quality and performance improvement initiatives. The incumbent will serve as the liaison between NODs and nursing leadership. The incumbent will be involved in the Falls committee.

The incumbent will monitor all direct reports for compliance of all documentation required and have the ability to function as NOD at all 3 campuses as well as perform the duties as the Safety Observation Technicians (SOT).
