Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center stands as a distinguished institution, encompassing a 420‑bed teaching hospital, a dedicated trauma center, a neonatal intensive care unit, and a renowned geriatrics center. It proudly hosts the Johns Hopkins Burn Center, the sole adult burn trauma facility in Maryland.

Burton 4 is a newly renovated unit with 17 private patient rooms, 2 nursing documentation stations, a multidisciplinary room, and a provider workroom. Each room is equipped with a computer, label printer, and call‑bell system linked to updated patient safety features. The patient‑to‑RN ratio is 5:1, supported by a nursing unit secretary, 2 patient care techs, 3 RNs, and a charge RN who manages a 2‑patient assignment to maintain the 5:1 ratio.

Patient population is general medicine, with ~75% having an underlying psychiatric illness.

RN / Registered Nurse is responsible for independently planning, coordinating, and directing activities essential to the provision of quality nursing care for assigned patients; coordinating the medical plan from support service departments; identifying and implementing nursing interventions; evaluating results; and demonstrating developing leadership qualities.

This dynamic environment serves as a perfect learning experience for beginning RNs, allowing you to develop essential skills vital to any patient care setting.

• RN license in Maryland or compact state
• CPR (AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network)
• Associate RNs must enroll in a BSN/MSN program within 1 year of hire:
  • Provide documentation (unofficial transcript) of completion of at least 9 credits/12 months until a BS/MSN degree is completed during mid‑year and annual evaluations
  • Complete BS/MSN within 5 years of hire date and provide documentation (official transcripts)
• Previous experience as a patient care tech or student nurse tech is helpful
