Position

Summary

Production Engineer – Advanced Refining Technologies (ART) Hydroprocessing Plant Team. The Production Engineer provides operating support to the process line and contributes to achieving production goals. Responsibilities include monitoring, analyzing, and controlling quality, optimizing stream rate, uptime and yield. The role supports Curtis Bay environmental, health and safety initiatives and collaborates with the operations team.

Location:

Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD. Reports to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating conditions, interpret process results and recommend corrective actions to optimize plant operations
  • Troubleshoot process and production issues
  • Track and manage production yield, rate and quality performance data
  • Identify and support scoping of process improvement or production projects
  • Support commissioning and startup activities including Management of Change (MOC) best practices, activities with focus on Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) with full respect to Process Safety Management (PSM) principles
  • Write and revise SOPs/work instructions
  • Provide training to plant personnel
  • Support month end closing processes, audits and responses to customer complaints
  • Lead data driven Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for process deviations, downtime, EHS and quality events
Physical Requirements And Environment
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Chemical Engineering or related technical field
  • 2+ years in chemical manufacturing or related process industry
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively on a team and independently
  • Experience using excellent interpersonal skills to drive results

  • Experience with change management to challenge the status quo and work collaboratively across functions
  • Experience working independently and with a team to achieve results
  • Demonstrated drive for ownership and accountability
  • Experience applying fundamental engineering concepts to develop technical solutions for implementation
  • Process control system experience
