We are looking for part time and full time Automation & Controls Technicians to start immediately near the following locations:
Charlotte, NC
Washington D.C.
Philadelphia, PA
Reliable Precision Alignment (RPA) is a veteran‑owned material handling repair company that works across the U.S. As an Automation & Controls Technician, you’ll make sure that our customer's automated systems are working at their best. You’ll be working with automation machinery from conveyors to sortation systems, and ensuring they’re working efficiently. While this would be your primary function, you would also need to be willing and able to perform general maintenance technician work, such as assembling, decommissioning, and repairing conveyor systems and facilities/ base building assets in large distribution warehouses (i.e. Amazon Warehouses).
Working hours vary based on the workload, but due to the nature of the business, work could be throughout the night, on weekends, and anywhere from one day to a couple weeks long. This is a physically demanding position with up to 90% travel across the U.S.
Compensation for this role is between $40-$65 an hour, plus overtime. Pay is based on level of experience and tenure in the field. Full time employees receive health insurance and optional contributions into a 401(k). Part time employees do not receive health insurance but can opt in for contributions into a 401(k).
KeyJob Responsibilities:
- Monitor, troubleshoot and repair issues with key systems.
- Provide data visualizations of troubleshooting to our customers.
- Own or actively participate in continuous improvement projects with our customers.
- Ensure all systems are correctly documented and that accurate backup libraries are maintained.
- Work with our customers to install and commission new equipment.
- Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, and develop improvement strategies for code.
- Relevant experience with PLC‑controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment.
- Relevant experience supporting different conveyors and sortation systems.
- Relevant experience dealing with material handling, flow and capacity visualization, and monitoring.
- Experience with at least one of the following tools:
Microsoft Office, project management tools and EPLAN, Ladder Logic and structure programming from Siemens, Allen‑Brady or Codesys PLCs Ignition SCADA or similar platform and Human Machine Interface (HMI), Ethernet
IP, Profinet, Profibus and AS‑i or other fieldbus networks, VFDs, safety gateways and input and output devices.
- A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, industrial electronics or another technical subject.
- Experience working within ISO 13849 and ISO 62061 frameworks.
- Project management experience with multiple frameworks such as Agile and Waterfall.
- Experience of Six Sigma, data analysis or process improvement techniques.
- Experience with Pro Fi Bus and Pro Fi Trace.
- Proficient at IO comms block (how to root cause and diagnosis comms drops).
- Understanding basic mapping of Photoeyes and MPs and their impact on MPP/OEE.
- Understanding of inputs into VIZ/ICW and what causes fault codes.
