Kelly is hiring a QA Laboratory Technician for one of our paint manufacturing clients in Baltimore, MD
- 2 positions open
- $23-$27/hr
- Standard M-F 1st shift
- 3 month contract with potential to be extended/converted
This position is responsible for testing production batches according to specific written testing methods and identifying issues of both in-spec and out-of-spec data. The lab technician will interpret results and historical data to ensure the product meets or exceeds the customers’ requirements for quality as well as provide instructions to production personnel regarding adjustments to batches as needed. The technician will be involved in the efficient operation of the lab, general housekeeping, ensuring a safe work environment and will independently perform tasks as outlined by his/her supervisor/manager.
MajorTasks Performed
- Batch approval. Assures that all tests are completed and results meet all specifications before going to the next production process.
- Enter all batches’ data into E .
- Generate appropriate paperwork as needed per the customer specifications.
- Gather and send customer samples as required.
- Follows all standard technical procedures and exercises good judgment and initiatives. Able to accomplish assigned work with little supervision.
- If necessary, follows appropriate raw material test methods and may file related paperwork. Gather, stock and manage product retain area.
- Utilizes appropriate computer systems to ensure effective testing of products.
- Determines disposition of non-compliant finished goods, such as first case/last case.
- Places non-conforming material on hold as needed.
- Supports the ISO Management Systems and Safety Systems.
- Maintains inventory of lab supplies, stocks them when received, and requests them when we are low.
- May be required to work a different shift to cover for vacations, overtime, call-ins, etc.
- Maintains Lab housekeeping and cleans all test equipment.
- Any other duty requested by their supervisor.
- Must adhere to all safety requirements of job.
- Identify and communicate product issues to other departments as needed.
- Review batch slip for completeness and accuracy.
- Participation towards completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed
- Additional duties include:
- Create, maintain and update SOP’s for Quality Department to meet ISO requirements (where applicable).
- May assist in training of other lab techs as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- Identify quality non-conformances at the earliest possible stage in the production process.
- Ensures high standards of quality are implemented and maintained.

- Maintain customer quality expectations.
- Provides solutions to problems in relation to the quality and approval of production batches.
- Reduces the production of nonconforming product through the review and implementation of corrective actions
