WR Grace is a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals and is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to report to the Maintenance Supervisor at our Curtis Bay plant in Baltimore, MD. This position will support the plant’s mechanical maintenance program, playing a critical role in both reactive and preventative maintenance.

Final salary and compensation will be based on several factors including candidate qualifications, experience, geographical location, market, and business considerations.

Schedule: A Multi may be required to work a rotating shift schedule, overtime, and holidays as business dictates. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required.

• Comply with all Company policies, procedures and quality standards and participate in quality and process improvement initiatives as required.
• Maintain timely compliance on all safety, health, environmental, and training initiatives.
• Perform precision repairs to plant mechanical equipment and devices.
• Troubleshoot plant equipment, identify problems, and perform effective repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment to gain access to, remove and replace defective parts.
• Evaluate used parts to identify changes to improve equipment performance.
• Fabricate new parts.
• Set up and operate a drill press, grinder, shop tools, hand tools and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Use acetylene, plasma cutter or other burning equipment.
• Perform welding using stick, MIG, TIG or other welding procedures.
• Perform crane signaling and rigging of tools or equipment.
• Fabricate and install piping systems.
• Operate forklift, elevated work platforms and other equipment necessary for the job.
• Read and interpret drawings and sketches.
• Use computers and telecommunications devices including keyboards and other forms of data entry and retrieval.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

• Willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including hard hat, protective eyewear, steel‑toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, and full‑face respirator.
• Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
• Work in high‑hazard environments, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures and noisy surroundings.
• Follow safety protocols and standards while working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Pass a written mechanical aptitude test and a hands‑on mechanical aptitude test prior to being awarded the position.
• Complete apprenticeship courses and obtain a passing grade.
• Complete the required in‑shop tasks assigned per the training checklists.
• Perform the essential functions of the job as determined by the Organization.
• Progress to the level of Multi‑Skilled Mechanic I.
