Director of Accounting

Description

Our client is looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Accounting to oversee and refine their accounting operations. This role is ideal for a driven individual who excels in managing multi-entity environments and delivering accurate financial insights. The Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, mentoring a growing team, and contributing to the company's financial strategy. This role is in the office 2-3 times a week in Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities:

- Direct daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, month-end closings, reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.

- Develop and implement effective accounting processes, controls, and policies tailored to a dynamic, multi-entity organization.

- Collaborate with FP& A, operations teams, and executive leadership to deliver timely and precise financial analysis and insights.

- Oversee the integration of newly acquired entities, ensuring alignment of accounting policies and consolidation of financial statements.

- Manage cash flow, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting.

- Ensure compliance with organizational standards and maintain readiness for annual audits.

- Lead, train, and support a growing team of accounting staff, including both remote and onsite personnel.

- Assist in optimizing accounting systems and processes as the company scales, particularly within healthcare, multisite, or roll-up accounting platforms.

- Prepare comprehensive materials for board meetings and maintain direct communication with private equity sponsors.

Requirements

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.

- Extensive experience in public accounting and private equity environments.

- Proven ability to manage accounting functions in multi-location environments.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop teams.

- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, especially when interacting with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
