ABOUTTHE ROLE
Ryan & Wetmore, PC is seeking a Tax Manager for our offices in Bethesda, MD, Vienna, VA, and Frederick, MD. In this role, you will lead complex tax engagements, advise clients on corporate and federal tax issues, and support strategic business decisions. You will work directly with partners and supervise staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with tax regulations. This position offers a clear path to advancement and the opportunity to mentor junior team members while managing client relationships.

You are an experienced tax professional with strong technical expertise and leadership skills. You thrive in a client-facing environment, enjoy solving complex business challenges, and have a strategic mindset. You are CPA-certified or CPA-eligible and have a proven track record in public accounting, team management, and client advisory.

POSITION TASKS Tax Compliance & Planning- Manage and review Federal and State individual and business tax returns.
- Perform advanced tax planning and research for complex client scenarios.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing recommendations for business and process improvements.
- Deliver advisory services related to tax, finance, and operational strategies.
- Network to build strong client and community relationships.
- Lead client engagements, ensuring profitability and timely delivery.
- Oversee billing, collections, and workflow management for assigned engagements.
- Evaluate internal processes and implement efficiencies.
- Supervise and mentor staff, providing coaching and career development support.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and uphold quality standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of tax laws and industry best practices.
- Participate in firm‑wide learning and development programs.
- CPA license required.
- 5+ years of public accounting experience with federal and state tax compliance.
- Of those 5 years: 2+ years of supervisory experience, including mentoring and team leadership.
- Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in business development.
- Expected pay: $95,000–$135,000 per year.
