Operations Manager, General Management
Our Sr. Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives at the fulfillment center. They manage and lead a team of Operations and Area Managers, coach and mentor the team to ensure performance objectives are met, build positive employee relations, and develop leadership bench strength.
Responsibilities- Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and the fulfillment center to meet and exceed the business plan.
- Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience of either inbound or outbound operations.
- Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable.
- Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing, nurturing ideas, and incorporating them into improvement plans for the functional area.
- Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and among the network.
- Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other Sr. Operations Managers) to secure support and resources for projects and initiatives.
- Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Walk throughout the fulfillment center regularly; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
- Stand and/or walk an average of 5 miles daily.
- Work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, not air‑conditioned.
- Access all areas of the building safely and without limitation.
- Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays.
- Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of Amazon experience.
- 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.
- Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
- Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination.
- Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred.
- Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
- Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple fulfillment centers across the nation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,500 /year in our lowest geographic market to $200,900 /year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon may provide equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
