Safety Manager, Distribution – Rite‑Hite
Rite‑Hite is the global leader in loading‑dock and door equipment. We design and deliver solutions that keep our customers safe, secure, and productive. As part of this mission, we seek a Safety Manager, Distribution to oversee safety programs, compliance, and training across assigned districts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Work with Corporate Safety Manager, HRBP, and Arbon leadership to develop and execute an annual EHS Action Plan for assigned Arbon Equipment districts.
- Facilitate leadership involvement in the safety program through monthly updates on leading and lagging safety indicators and assist leaders with incorporating safety into business planning and goals.
- Analyze individual accidents to determine root causes, identify corrective actions, and communicate findings to field management; recognize potential safety violations that contributed to incidents.
- Help prepare materials for hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Analyze overall accident history and trends to identify problem areas and develop improvement plans; work with organization management to implement corrective actions.
- Address vehicle accident history, leveraging company telematics software and trend analysis to develop improvement plans.
- Formulate safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures that comply with OSHA and EPA rules.
- Develop and maintain a health‑and‑safety‑oriented work philosophy, including training materials, SOPs, job safety analysis, awareness campaigns, and incentive programs.
- Consult with local offices on equipment design, fire prevention, and safety programs.
- Conduct field safety audits of employees, job sites, and facilities; communicate audit results and maintain an audit database for performance reviews and safety action plans.
- Compile and submit accident reports and OSHA 300A data required by regulatory agencies.
- Oversee workers’ compensation and auto claims administration; manage reporting systems, post‑accident testing, return‑to‑work programs, and claim cost control.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers on claim submission, management, cost control, and employee support.
- Assist field personnel with contractor qualification reports.
- Provide guidance on safety issues related to subcontractors, customers, and general contractors; resolve concerns and develop corrective plans.
- Support field management with customer safety requirements for quoted or awarded jobs (JSA, SSP, risk assessments).
- Help with third‑party prequalification studies, including safety questionnaires, program submittals, certificates, and training assignments.
- Design, supervise, and coordinate safety training and orientation programs for the LMS, monitor compliance, and conduct regular safety training.
- Obtain OSHA trainer certification and conduct OSHA 10 and 30‑hour construction classes as needed.
- Work with vendors to select quality safety products, control costs for PPE, crane inspections, fire extinguishers, service truck inspections, and security services for districts.
- Develop policies for DOT compliance for company CMV and non‑CMV drivers, monitor auto policy point systems, and facilitate MVR review processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a safety‑related discipline.
- Five or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in a field‑safety environment or construction is highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate and present effectively to various audiences, from field personnel to senior management.
- Travel up to 25% required.
- Strong analytical skills, including root‑cause analysis.
