We are seeking a dependable, kind, respectful, and self‑motivated professional for our Facilities Maintenance Technician position to oversee and perform minor maintenance for four properties in Baltimore City, MD.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization equipping women survivors of trauma.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of facilities maintenance, property management, or skilled trades experience
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, minor construction, and general building systems
  • Ability to find, troubleshoot, and solve problems independently
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Reliable transportation
    • Pick-up truck preferred but not required
  • Ability to work autonomously and self‑motivated
  • Safety‑conscious mindset
  • Professional communication skills
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Commitment to fostering a safe environment for women who are healing from trauma
  • Comfortable working in a faith‑based environment
Time Commitment
  • 32 hours per week - flexible schedule - salary
Job Description
  • Oversight and maintenance of 4 buildings for a nonprofit organization
    • The Well & Hon’s Honey Main Headquarters (4710 Pennington Ave, Baltimore, MD 21226)
    • Hope Chest (4731 Pennington Ave, Baltimore, MD 21226)
    • Hon’s Honey Marketplace (3433 S Hanover St, Brooklyn, MD 21225)
    • 2 Residential Units - Baltimore 21226
  • Maintenance for 4 properties inside and out
    • Trash clean up outside
    • Light bulbs change
    • Ceiling tile replacements
    • Equipment checks - alarm, thermostats, utilities, electric panel, emergency lights, filter changes, fire extinguishers etc.
    • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility emergencies
    • Conduct regular building inspections and identify needed repairs
    • Moving pallets outside
    • Relocating Hope Chest Donations
      • Take donations in tan linen cart over to the Hope Chest basement regularly
    • Minor building repairs/maintenance/construction as needed
      • Ex
        - Demolition during construction projects
    • Seasonal Duties
      • Snow and ice removal management
      • Bush trimming
      • Weeding flower beds
      • Watering flowers
      • Lawn Care
      • Leaf Clean Up and Removal
      • Manage Code Red Water
    • Yearly maintenance
      • Power washing
  • Vendor & Project Coordination
    • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers by calling and reporting issues to the appropriate companies
    • Obtain quotes and assist with cost tracking for repairs and capital projects
    • Supervise vendor work to ensure quality and completion
    • Call/Report 311 issues as needed
    • Management of:
      • The Mumpster at 4710 Pennington Ave
        • Ensuring the dumpster has been emptied and knowing when it is full
        • Checking regularly to make sure the dumpster is locked
        • Managing illegal dumpings outside of the dumpster
      • The Parking Lot
        • Ensuring that only staff, visitors and volunteers are parked in our parking lot
        • Call tow truck when necessary
      • Elevator
        • Make sure the elevator is working properly and test the emergency phone line routinely
        • Manage yearly Elevator Inspection with Action Elevator
      • Fire Marshall Visits & Fireline Accounts to ensure smoke detectors, emergency lights and fire extinguishers are maintained and working properly
      • Keys
        • Manage keys to all buildings
        • Keep the lock box orderly and ensure all keys are returned and in the proper location
        • Make copies of keys as needed
      • Maintenance and Janitorial Closets
        • Keep closets orderly and organized
    • Set up and tear down for events
    • Complete monthly inspections at Residential Units with the Social Worker
      • Open apartments monthly for Bugout Pest Control and make sure that tenants are compliant
    • Janitorial Duties
      • Cleaning of the main building and trash is emptied daily
    • Other duties as assigned
