Hours: 8:30 a.m.

- 4:00 p.m.

Job Description Nature of Work

Working as part of a team, conduct surveys and educate residents to improve property conditions that contribute to rodent populations within identified communities. Distribute educational materials and build relationships with residents on proper trash storage, exterior maintenance and rodent control measures. Collect field data and report on rodent activity. Participate in securing community wide improvements on proper trash storage, exterior maintenance and rodent control measures.

Perform property reinspections to evaluate progress toward community wide goals.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED) is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).

Experience

Residents in the Brooklyn Park area with a high school diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.

License Or Certification

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for travel to identified communities; eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Notes

Technicians will work as part of a two-person team, supervised by an Environmental Health Specialist III and/or Environmental Sanitarian Supervisor.

Desired Or

Preferred Qualifications

Must be able to walk 3 miles per day, 5 days per week, in alleyways and on properties with dogs, cats, sloping terrain, high grass, weeds and rodents. Must be able to perform field duties during high temperature conditions, rainy weather, and in areas where rodent populations are active.
