Pay Rate Range: $50-60/hr
Role OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Case Administrator (Paralegal) to provide critical operational and analytical support for adjudicatory proceedings. In this role, you will act as a primary liaison between legal parties and Hearing Officers, ensuring the integrity of the official record and the efficiency of the litigation docket. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal professional with a background in litigation or securities to work at the heart of regulatory enforcement.
Key Responsibilities- Docket Management: Oversee a complex docket of assigned cases, maintaining the official electronic and physical records of all proceedings.
- Case Oversight: Monitor deadlines and assist Hearing Officers in managing their dockets; consult with senior leadership to ensure timely action on all pending matters.
- Legal Liaison: Act as a knowledgeable resource and primary point of contact for parties and counsel regarding policies, procedures, and operational functions.
- Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and cite-check notices, orders, correspondence, and final decisions to ensure accuracy and compliance with formal standards.
- Procedural Compliance: Examine pleadings for completeness and accuracy; coordinate with attorneys to rectify filings that do not comply with established Codes of Procedure.
- Hearing Support: Attend pre-hearing conferences and live hearings to manage evidence and assist in the smooth conduct of proceedings.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree and a Paralegal Certificate (Required).
- Experience: Previous paralegal experience preferred, specifically within litigation or securities-related fields.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with legal research databases (Westlaw/Lexis Nexis). - Skills: Exceptional writing, research, and cite-checking abilities. Strong interpersonal skills are required for acting as a liaison between conflicting parties.
- Requirements: Must be able to work in person in Washington, DC, with the flexibility for occasional travel and extended hours as needed.
