Overview
We are seeking an inexperienced Legal Practice Assistant (LPA) with a proven background in Big Law to join our boutique Washington, DC office in a hybrid capacity. This role provides high-level administrative and practice support to attorneys and paralegals, ensuring seamless delivery of client service in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, a strong understanding of complex legal processes, and the ability to anticipate attorney needs in a large firm setting.

Hybrid – Washington, DC
Responsibilities- Provide direct support to attorneys and paralegals in high-volume, complex matters, including drafting, formatting, proofreading, and editing legal documents, correspondence, and presentations to Big Law standards
- Prepare and process federal and state court filings, including e-filing in multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in compliance with applicable rules
- Maintain and organize case files and matter management systems (electronic and hard copy) in accordance with firm protocols
- Manage attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, and arrange travel with meticulous attention to detail and proactive scheduling
- Assist with billing processes, including time entry, expense reports, pre-bill review, and preparation of final client invoices
- Liaise professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and internal departments while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
- Support large-scale case preparation, including compiling exhibits, discovery materials, and trial or hearing binders
- Provide backup support to other assistants and the reception area as needed
- Handle matter intake, including conflict checks, engagement letters, and initial case setup
- Minimum of 3 years of legal assistant or practice assistant experience in a Big Law (Am Law 100 or comparable) environment
- Demonstrated expertise in federal and state court filing procedures, including e-filing in multiple jurisdictions
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and PDF editing software
- Experience with legal document management systems (iManage, Net Documents, or similar) and billing software
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-focused environment
- High degree of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive matters
- Hybrid work model: 3 days onsite in our Washington, DC office, 2 days remote
- Standard business hours with flexibility for occasional overtime based on workload and deadlines
