Private Funds Attorney Associate

I am working closely with a Vault 10 Firm looking to grow its Band 1 Private Funds Practice in the DC office. This is not a posted position, but one where I am working directly with the partners leading the search.

The firm offers one of the premier Private Funds groups in the world. While the attorneys work seamlessly between various offices, this is a specific initiative to add multiple attorneys to the group's DC presence.

The group is open to various experience levels.

Junior

• 1st or 2nd year associates - while funds experience would be great, the firm is open to 1st or 2nd years that have no real private funds experience, especially if experience is in some other corporate/transactional subset
• Academic credentials must be top notch (T14 law school, very strong grades)

i.e. someone without experience will be held to stricter credential standards

Mid-level

• 3rd-5th year associates - must have some private funds experience at a reputable firm (the more senior, the more experience needed)
• Academic credentials must still be very good, but a bit more flexibility

This is a concerted effort to group the group and stand out as offering truly different culture than is most common in the larger NY office of this firm and peer firms. The office as a whole is much smaller, and the group is emphasizing a collegial feel where there is an absolute priority on one-on-one mentorship with partners and associates.

The group wants to grow carefully, where associates feel like valued members with a true runway for advancement, and not cogs in the wheel of the machine.
