Overview
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Nursing (SON) is currently recruiting for a AV Manager (User Technical & Support Operations Manager). This position provides project management assistance, expertise, and/or resources for the Audio-Visual aspects of new software and services being deployed by the School of Nursing and across the university.

Essential Functions- Manage, analyze, plan, develop, implement, and direct audio visual (AV) and information technology user technical and support services. This position manages the user technical and support operations. Define service levels and develop on-line resources by researching industry standards.
- Manage work activities of the user technical and support operations; lead staff in the continuing effort toward optimum performance, resource utilization, and cost-effectiveness. Manage the technical and procedural activities of user technical and support.
- Develop and implement guidelines, policies, and procedures for campus desktop computing. Maintain technical expertise in order to develop and maintain standard and customized desktop configurations for procurement and to remain current on industry trends.
- With campus customers, define standards and measures for quality and customer satisfaction requirements. Foster and support a collaborative consultant/client environment providing business unit and campus representatives with assessment, training and advice.
- Establish and monitor tracking system for user requests; analyze call patterns, up time and resource use. Manage the delivery of user technical and support services. Generate statistical reports for types of problems submitted and technician work load.
- Recommend changes to equipment, software, and operations. Generate annual inventory reports for department with recommendations for equipment replacement, upgrade, or retirement.
- Act as primary point of contact for vendors and University.
- Perform such management duties as staff supervision, performance evaluation, budgetary tracking, report formulation and quality assurance.
- Provide user technology support in a higher education environment for faculty or staff using audio/visual, multimedia, video and audio production, and IT equipment and technology as appropriate. Facilitate the integration of a variety of technologies for use and in support of day-to-day end-user computer and AV system operations.
- Manage inspection, maintenance, installation, and tracking of AV and computer equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, auditoriums, studio and offices ensuring that equipment is in good working order and secure. In collaboration with Level I & Level II IT support, document inoperable equipment and complete repairs as needed.
- Provide support and representation with respect to the AV and IT offerings of the School of Nursing to the Campus and beyond.

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, Computer Engineering or a related field.
ExperienceFive (5) years spent progressively building background in various information applications and systems, with three (3) years in information technology user technical and support operations. Experience and proficiency in using audio/visual, multimedia, video production, or IT education/training preferred.
Supervisory ExperienceTwo (2) years of direct supervision or responsibility for training, work coordination, and/or daily oversight of staff, students, or volunteers.
