PDR-data visualization - PREP Research Associate
This position is part of the National Institute of Standards (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. PREP supports collaboration with researchers at academic institutions on projects of mutual interest. The research title is Dynamic data visualization for tabular data
. The work entails developing a tool to visualize tabular data for datasets published in the NIST public data repository (PDR), exploring frictionless data standards, and enhancing metadata standards (NERDm) to support tabular data as needed. This work may apply to new datasets published under specific Critical Emerging Technologies (CETs) programs. The dynamic visualization will help users explore NIST data products in real time and enhance the user experience of the PDR.
- Learn and understand the PDR system
- Understand domain-specific data and metadata standards
- Use and explore AI techniques to support data visualization
- Enhance the existing PDR system with these additions
- Maintain regular code updates and deliver code repository with documentation
- Attend regular meetings with NIST
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with multiple programming and scripting languages
- Ability to develop prototypes of tools
- Strong oral and written communication skills
