PURPOSE: Identifies and solves business problems by using various numerical techniques, algorithms, and models in statistical modeling, machine learning, operations research, and data mining. Uses advanced analytical capabilities to support data science initiatives. Communicates across product teams and with customers and educates on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical models. Acting as a liaison and interface between analytics, business units and other departments.
We are not looking for generalists who may have an IT background and various credentials like Scrum, Agile, etc.
We are looking for an experienced professional in the greater Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area who is willing and able to work in a hybrid model. The incumbent will be expected to work a portion of their week from home and a portion of their week at a Care First location based on business needs and work activities/deliverables that week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Mines and extracts data and applies algorithms to derive insights. Contribute to the analytics, reporting and data governance activity related to Cost of Care Reporting, including Ideation support, Hotspot/Trend Analysis, Dashboard and Report management, Specialty/Member/Provider/Other Detail Reporting and Business Care Support. Support items like AI implementations, partnerships with our IT/Data Management teams, vendor support (ex: Milliman Med Insight) and other related functions.
- Explores data to understand the data profile and its limitations.
- Assists business units in the innovation of organizational performance.
- Explores data patterns using existing data science tools.
- Translates business priorities to data science deliverables.
- Reviews trends in the ML/AI/DS space and assists with integrating new ML/AI designs into solutions and products.
Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation Level: Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Experience: 3 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior healthcare analytics experience is a must.
- Experience in domains.
- Experience with delivering work consistently and transparently to our business partners, both internal and external.

- Ability to work independently without detailed guidance.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document objectives and procedures.
- Ability to leverage a variety of data science tools and frameworks.
- Knowledge in model evaluation, tuning and performance, operationalization, and scalability of scientific techniques.
- Knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in statistical modeling applications.
Salary Range: $86,400 - $171,600
