Our client, a major Telecommunications provider, is hiring a Fiber Designer for a long-term contract opportunity in Baltimore, MD.

The Outside Plant Fiber Designer will be responsible for designing fiber routes over existing and new fiber optic cables, creating fiber splice documents, using software such as Spatial, AutoCAD, and Excel, among others.

Our client will provide training in OSP Hybrid Fiber-Coax (HFC) design and OSP construction and engineering.

• Design and develop layouts for OSP and ISP Fiber design
• Develop ISP Patch panel diagrams and cable rack layouts
• Generate bills of materials, splice sheets, and other supporting documentation
• Review completed designs for errors and efficiency
• Maintain design specifications
• Adhere to quality standards in design requirements
• Analyze OTDR traces, evaluate fiber characteristics, and document test results
• Assist in troubleshooting fiber circuits
• Identify efficiency improvements in current processes
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Support team members with fiber design documents
• Review, resolve, and follow-up on requests and complaints
• May train and guide other designers
• Maintain regular attendance, work nights and weekends, and overtime as necessary

• Experience with AutoCAD, Micro-station, Spatial, or ESRI; education/certification required
• Bachelor’s Degree is a plus but not mandatory
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Visual design skills are advantageous
• Knowledge of easement, right-of-way, and permit documents preferred
• Experience in designing or constructing telecommunications fiber networks
• High integrity and strong work ethics
• Attention to detail, creative and strategic thinking
• Excellent organization and time management
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
