Role OverviewThe Senior Biostatistician will lead the design, execution, and interpretation of complex statistical analyses that advance biomedical, clinical, and translational research. The role requires independent research expertise, advanced modeling skills, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights for grants, publications, and policy.
Supervisory AccountabilityMay supervise data analysts, statistical programmers, graduate research assistants, and other technical staff. Provides mentorship and training to faculty, staff, and students.
Nature and ScopeInternal contacts include senior administrators, faculty, investigators, residents, fellows, students, and staff. External contacts include funding agencies, collaborators, consultants, and peer institutions.
Principal Accountabilities- Lead biostatistical consulting for research studies, clinical trials, and translational projects.
- Develop advanced statistical models (longitudinal, mixed-effects, survival, Bayesian, predictive, AI/ML).
- Design and review study protocols, analysis plans, and data management strategies for funded research.
- Provide input on grant proposals and manuscripts to ensure statistical validity.
- Mentor staff and trainees in data coding, management, and analysis.
- Oversee quality control procedures for datasets and reports.
- Develop new or adapt existing methods to emerging research questions.
- Translate findings into clinical practice, innovation projects, and population health strategies.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives enhancing data infrastructure and analytics.
- Present findings to leadership, stakeholders, professional societies, and in publications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Expertise in designing, executing, and interpreting biomedical statistical analyses.
- Strong publication record and successful grant applications.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards for clinical trials (FDA, NIH, IRB).
- Proficiency with R, SAS, STATA, Python, or similar platforms.
- Ability to manage complex projects, supervise staff, and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across disciplines.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related field.
- 5–7 years of postdoctoral or professional biostatistics experience in academic, clinical, or research settings.
- Experience as principal or lead statistician on funded projects.
- Evidence of peer-reviewed publications and grant contributions.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Faculty appointment eligibility preferred.
Expected Pay Range: $88,000–$98,000
