Under general supervision of the department manager, the Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor oversees, facilitates and performs work activities of EVS employees to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive rooms and other areas within the GBMC hospital campus.
May take periodic inventories, screen applicants, train new employees, and recommend dismissals.
Education- High school diploma or equivalent education is required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 2 years of Housekeeping experience is required.
- Supervisory/leadership experience is strongly preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and related local safety requirements.
- Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to use all relevant electronic and communication devices.
- Ability to present self in a highly professional manner to others and maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
- Ability to maintain a professional relationship with coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers and client representatives.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate compliance with department policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements.
- Serves as a working lead, coordinating activities of environmental service employees engaged in cleaning and disinfection.
- Perform duties of an Environmental Service Associate, including but not limited to heavy cleaning as required.
- Ensure patient, procedure and surgical room compliance inspections and observations.
- Monitor and track Hand Hygiene compliance and all other EVS services SOW.
- Assist in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees.
- Conduct patient engagement interviews for housekeeping services and potential service recovery needs.
- Improve Press Ganey Patient Experience scores.
- Monitor employee productivity and provide suggestions for increased service or productivity.
- Train, schedule, coach, supervise and motivate support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established standards and consistent with GBMC Health Care System core values.
- Communicate and document operational concerns.
- Maintain adequate cleaning inventory for department/unit use.
- Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated; participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the requirements of the position.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
$21.91 – $37.08 per hour. Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
