Position: Respiratory Care Coordinator (662355)

SUMMARY

The JHHC Coordinator has two paths:
Clinical and Education, with shared responsibilities.

The Clinical Coordinator provides patient-centered, evidence-based respiratory care, collaborating with the care team to ensure safe and high-quality outcomes.

The Education Coordinator designs and implements training for respiratory therapists and ECMO specialists, dedicating 50% of their time to education.

Both roles support departmental goals, prioritize compassionate care, and encourage a collaborative and innovative environment at JHHC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Clinical Coordinator Role)
  • Develops and monitors patient care plans using evidence-based practices, collaborating with the interprofessional team to maintain high standards of care and patient outcomes.
  • Provides feedback to staff on standards compliance and participates in multidisciplinary rounds to ensure continuity of care and improved outcomes.
  • Serves as a resource on respiratory care modalities, maintaining familiarity with age-appropriate and culturally specific practices and equipment.
  • Collaborates with scheduling and management to address staffing needs, budget monitoring, and productivity, ensuring efficient, quality care.
  • Enhances patient and staff satisfaction by promoting a supportive environment, identifying process improvements, and effectively managing crises.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Education Coordinator Role)
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise in respiratory care and serves as a technical resource, ensuring age-appropriate, culturally specific modalities and supporting compliance with standards.
  • Designs develops, and implements education programs, including workshops, classes, and annual competencies, for respiratory therapists and ECMO specialists, aligning with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with managers to coordinate student rotations, support staff educational needs, provide performance feedback, and monitor staffing for educational support.
  • Collects and analyzes data from surveys and feedback tools to identify trends, make improvements, and contribute to research and process development.
  • Maintains a positive work environment through empathetic leadership, team-building, conflict resolution, and involvement in policy updates and special projects as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associates Degree required, Graduation from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the COARC Council for the Accreditation of Respiratory Care Education Registered Respiratory Therapist. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

License/Certification

A registered respiratory care practitioner (RRT) and Maryland license are required. Basic Life Support (B.L.S.) CPR certification required, A.C.L.S., P.A.L.S., N.R.P., NPS preferred.

Clinical Coordinator

2 years of neonatal and pediatric critical intensive care experience.

ECMO and priming experience preferred or willingness to participate in first training program after acceptance of position.

Ability to work independently within all units (NICU, PICU, PCICU, General care areas).

Education Coordinator

2 years of neonatal and pediatric critical intensive care experience.

ECMO Specialists

Ability to work independently within all units.

Salary Range

Minimum 41.70/hour - Maximum 68.85/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
