Job Description Nature of WorkThe Environmental Health Specialist I position is entry level work involving inspection, investigation and code enforcement to obtain compliance with various environmental health laws, codes, ordinances and standards. The Environmental Health Specialist II position is professional full performance level work involving inspection, investigation and code enforcement to obtain compliance with various environmental health laws, codes, ordinances and standards.
The vacancy exists in the Food Protection Services Program and the position is responsible for inspection and licensing of permanent, mobile and temporary food service facilities. Duties will also involve complaint investigations for food service facilities.
EducationMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in biological, environmental, or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
License or Certification- Specialist I:
Must possess a Certificate of Eligibility to be licensed as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland State Board of Environmental Health Specialists. Download the certificate application. - Specialist II:
Must possess a License as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland State Board of Environmental Health Specialists.
Valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
