Certified Medical Assistant OB Ultrasound

The Johns Hopkins Hospital Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The CMA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician when performing clinical tasks during patient care. The CMA reports to the clinic manager, who is responsible for administrative supervision, staff development, and orientation of the CMA to the area's policies and procedures.

The CMA maintains an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies, assists in the organization of efficient patient flow, and organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety. The CMA participates in medication and procedure education for patients and their families by providing brochures and literature and may administer meds as ordered by provider. The CMA records care provided in patient medical record.

The CMA role in our area is unique - Primary CMA roles in our unit include: procedure assistance and time out documentation, performing mean arterial blood pressures for preeclampsia screening patients and inputting research data, clinic supply ordering and inventory maintenance (remove expired supplies, etc.), transporting reusable surgical equipment to/from central sterile, chaperoning for transvaginal u/s exams and occasionally assisting with transporting patients to/from L&D.

The CMA will not perform any blood draws or perform any documentation in EPIC

Shift:

Full Time (40 hours)

Day Shift, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (May vary slightly depending on location)

No weekends!

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program for new medical assistants

Licensure/Certification:

• Completion of CMA certification with the credentials of RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CCMA or CMAA requiredprior to hire
• Valid BLS CPR certification required. JHH accepts AHA, Red Cross, and military training network

Work Experience:

• Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of CMA experience, with Ultrasound work experience.

Salary Range: Minimum $17.82 /hour - Maximum $29.43/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
