Medical Technologist & Lab Technician, Clinical Research
We are seeking a Prosthetics Clinic Laboratory Aide to carry out experiments under close supervision of a faculty investigator, senior technician, or postdoctoral fellow in a laboratory. Follows routine protocols under close supervision.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities- Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab.
- Perform laboratory tests and/or experiments following established procedures or protocols.
- Operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Develop a basic tracking database/spreadsheet based on study requirements utilizing Excel, Access, or similar software applications.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records, present data summaries, identify and resolve common problems, and use basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects.
- Use basic laboratory skills: processing, storing, labeling, and identifying study samples.
- Maintain and make minor adjustments to equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Currently pursuing a high school diploma with some science coursework.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Some science coursework and/or training certificate from a technical institute.
- Working knowledge of software and technical processes for digital 3D scanning, sculpting/modeling, and 3D printing.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
- Design skills and creativity.
- Attention to detail.
- Training/experience in art related, basic science laboratory, or technical hands-on vocations.
- Certificate from dental laboratory technician or orthotics & prosthetics internship experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of materials.
- Walk between laboratory and clinical locations (several blocks).
