Peers Navigators are individuals who have firsthand experience, either personally or through a loved one, in navigating substance misuse, mental health or behavioral health challenges, and the journey of recovery. Peer Navigator Trainees are currently engaged in gaining the essential experience and training required to become Certified Peer Recovery Specialists. Peer Navigator Trainees provide both practical and emotional support, serving as role models for recovery and connecting individuals to community resources.
This is a part-time position.

** Salary:** $20.90/hour (max of 12 hours per week)
** Job Type:
** Part-Time,this position will require you to work on-site at different branches, times, and/or locations throughout the city.
** Summary of Duties:
** The role of peer trainees includes the following components:
* Outreach and Engagement:
Provide peer support and engage with library patrons and community members. Facilitate access to library and community resources related to health and recovery.
* Peer Support:
Offer empathetic support, sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire others.
* Participation in Training and Supervision:
Actively participate in training sessions, aiming to complete all supervision hours. Apply all training, outreach, and supervision experiences to the five domains outlined by the MABPCB.
* Service Hour Commitment:
Complete service hours as part of the training and certification process.
* Resource Advocacy:
Guide patrons in identifying and using various resources for recovery and wellness.
* Data Collection and Reporting:
Accurately record interactions and services, contributing to program evaluation.
* Professional Development:
Continuously seek personal growth within the field and attend supervisory meetings for performance feedback.
* Active Recovery Maintenance:
Continue personal recovery efforts, ensuring alignment with the role and program objectives.

* Minimum Qualifications:
*** High school diploma or GED.
* Experience with MS Windows, MS Office, and Internet browsers.
* Experience, either personally or through a loved one, in navigating substance misuse, mental health or behavioral health challenges, and the journey of recovery.
* MABPCB qualified.
** Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*** Personal readiness to work toward certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist.
* Strong listening, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
* Knowledge of ethical guidelines and advocacy skills.
* A passion for helping others and promoting recovery.
** Position of Trust:
** Those under final consideration for appointment will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a criminal conviction check.
