The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider and/or a registered nurse. Duties include venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, measurement and documentation of vital signs, assisting providers with patient exams, telephone and clerical support. Position may float to other sites/locations within the system.

• Assists providers with patient preparation for examination and minor office procedures and educates patients.
• Participates in daily team huddles and screens all patients for preventative care needs and safety concerns.
• Conducts motivational interviews and identifies behavioral health needs using screening tools.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory accreditation and quality/safety standards; audits equipment and medication supplies.
• Performs selected patient and laboratory testing within scope, documenting activities in EMR.
• Provides telephone screening, patient discharge, and escort services.
• Floats to other sites/locations within the system as appropriate.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

• Less than 6 months experience in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required.
• Prior experience as a medical assistant preferred.

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) within 1 year required.
• CPR (BLS & NRP) from AHA or American Red Cross within 90 days required.

• Clinical competency verified within orientation period and annually thereafter.
• Excellent customer service and patient interaction skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Salary range: USD $19.55 - $34.25 /Hr.
