Clinical Research Scientist Position

Division of Psychiatric Services Research (DPSR) in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) at the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) is recruiting a Clinical Research Scientist. The role builds on DPSR’s applied clinical research, evaluation, training, and dissemination aimed at improving quality and outcomes of care for persons with mental health and substance use disorders.

The mission of DPSR is to contribute to the evidence base for safe and effective interventions for improving mental health outcomes and enhancing recovery, evaluate the best settings and circumstances for offering interventions, and promote implementation of effective interventions through training and dissemination.

  • Design, testing, and/or implementation of physical health and mental health services to improve women's mental health across the lifespan

Our division is the academic affiliate for the VA Capitol Healthcare Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center and is home to the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center. Resources for research career development, medical record data access and community engaged research are available to enhance research programs.

The position carries a faculty appointment at the University and offers an exciting opportunity for research, teaching, and clinical work. Expected rank is Assistant Professor or higher; academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience.

Salary Range for full-time 100% FTE Assistant Professor: $116,000‑$140,000 (base pay, may vary with additional compensation components).

Qualifications

Applicants must have a doctoral degree. Competitive candidates will have an established research record, strong publication profile, existing extramural funding, and a track record of successful research funding and scientific productivity. The candidate’s area of interest and expertise should complement DPSR’s research programs, enable collaboration with clinical treatment and translational programs, and allow participation in educational and service missions of the department and UMSOM.
