Role

Summary:

Performs medication order processing responsibilities within established policies, procedures and guidelines and provides drug information while applying a thorough understanding and knowledge of drug and medical therapy.

Responsibilities & Functional Accountabilities
  • Medication Processing:
    Interpret medication orders, profile orders and oversee the packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.
  • Drug Intervention and

    Education:

    Perform drug therapy monitoring and intervene as necessary on drug dosing, drug administration, drug interactions, side‑effects and monitoring issues; complete therapeutic drug monitoring consults and adverse drug reaction reports; provide accurate and timely drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals; interpret research medication orders, ensure accurate preparation of investigational drugs and maintain complete and accurate records; maintain proficiencies in medication handling (including hazardous medications), compounding sterile/non‑sterile preparation(s) and completing quality assurance checks per standard operating procedures and policies in compliance with USP , and guidelines.
  • Supervision/Training:
    Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians by directing and assisting as necessary to ensure rapid medication order turn‑around time; assist with the education, training and general supervision of Pharmacy Residents, Students and Technicians.
  • Safety:
    Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance; continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation; stop in the face of uncertainty and take time to resolve the situation; demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication; actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co‑workers; attend carefully to important details – practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self‑check behavior and performance.
  • Organizational Accountabilities:
    Anticipate and respond to customer needs; demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior; partner with all team members to achieve goals; receptive to others’ ideas and opinions; contribute to a positive work environment; demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change; identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes; make appropriate decisions using sound judgment; use resources efficiently; search for less costly ways of doing things.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a five‑year pharmacy program in an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • One year of pharmacy experience.

Position Status:
Regular – PT – Part‑Time.

Shift: Variable.

Work Schedule:
