Med Star Health is looking for a PRN Vascular Technologist to join our team at Med Star Union Memorial Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess mathematical and organizational skills and the ability to recognize emergency medical situations. The Vascular Technologist will perform vascular testing procedures, assist in the implementation of protocols and procedures, and participate in ongoing Performance Improvement programs.

Primary Duties- Adheres to departmental Safety and Infection Control programs. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains Vascular Lab equipment as per department protocol. Reports patients or associates' injuries per established protocol. Demonstrates compliance with Universal Precautions when appropriate.
- Completes all related clerical procedures. Ensures completeness of required patient data prior to billing and interpretation. Adequately completes all department and Med Star Health billing requirements in a timely manner. Directs reports and EKGs as per department protocol. Maintains statistics as required. Adequately enters all patient and test information into Data Check system. Performs orientation and in‑service education as appropriate.
- Completes all related procedures prior to performance of test procedure. Assists with timely planning, coordination, and scheduling of all vascular testing procedures. Assists in maintaining internal and external Vascular Lab supply inventories. Clarifies testing request in ambiguous situations. Communicates information about specific test(s) to the patient and/or family explaining procedure prior to testing.
- Consistently performs technically adequate EKG tracings with appropriate patient information displayed when required. Demonstrates accurate lead placement prior to performance of EKG. Enters all required information prior to performance of EKG. Transmits completed EKG into MUSE via modem and disc as appropriate.
- Consistently performs technically adequate vascular testing procedures. Performs vascular‑related patient history and physical examination prior to testing. Obtains and records optimal gray scale and color flow images. Obtains and records optimal Doppler signals, measurements, and calculations. Identifies and documents appropriate data/information during testing procedures. During the test procedure, identifies and documents vascular abnormalities related to the patient's symptoms and/or diagnosis. Immediately notifies the physician/Vascular Surgeon of any serious abnormalities identified during the procedure.
- Graduation from an accredited ultrasound program or 12 months experience in vascular testing procedures.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registration or registration‑eligible in Vascular Technology or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
- Associate degree in allied health field preferred.
This position has a hiring range of USD $34.98 – $62.52 per hour
