Police Officer - Announcement #2602 (Entry-Level Police Officers)
The Prince George’s County Police Department is now accepting applications from individuals interested in pursuing a rewarding career as a Police Officer. We seek men and women of integrity, sound judgment, and strong character who are dedicated to community-oriented policing and committed to making a positive impact in the lives of Prince George’s County residents.
Responsibilities- Enforce local, state, and federal laws to protect life and property
- Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and ensure public safety
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Investigate crimes by collecting evidence and interviewing victims and witnesses
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain detailed records
- Make arrests and issue citations when appropriate
- Enforce traffic laws and respond to traffic accidents
- Provide assistance and support to individuals in crisis situations
- Engage with the community to build trust and promote crime prevention
- Testify in court and work with prosecutors and other justice partners
- Uphold departmental policies, ethical standards, and professional conduct
- U.S. Citizen
- High School graduate; (60+ college credit hours preferred)
- 21 years old at time of graduation from the Police Academy (20 years and 3 months old at time of application)
- Possess a valid driver's license and at least 6 months driving experience
- Successfully complete all requirements of the Background and Selection Process

Additional InformationEffective February 2, 2026, the Prince George's County Police Department is partnering with the National Testing Network (NTN) to administer the written examination. To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to , select “Find Jobs,” then select Law Enforcement Jobs and sign up for Prince George's County Police.
When you visit the NTN website, complete registration and schedule your test. Review information related to the Prince George's County Police Officer position, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits. Review the testing process and the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test if desired. After completing the exam, scores are forwarded. Candidates who attain a passing score will be placed on the eligibility list.
Police Department Recruiters will contact candidates on the list for further stages of the selection process.
National Testing Network is a service for entry-level testing in a standardized, professional environment. NTN does not replace the Prince George's County Police Department's responsibility and decision-making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the Prince George's County Police Department, where final decisions are made.
