Location: Baltimore, MD (onsite 4x, 1x remote)
Company Description
A well-established organization in the industrial distribution sector is seeking a Corporate Controller to support continued rapid growth. The company has expanded significantly over the past several years and now operates as part of a larger, financially strong parent organization while maintaining its own brand and entrepreneurial culture.
OverviewThe Corporate Controller will serve as a key finance leader responsible for overseeing accounting operations, managing a team, and supporting the company’s continued growth. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will lead financial reporting, strengthen accounting processes, and provide guidance to help scale the organization as it continues to expand. This is a highly visible leadership position with meaningful influence on operational and financial performance.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the accounting team including accounts payable, accounts receivable, direct billing, and assistant controller functions
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
- Partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership to support strategic growth initiatives
- Develop and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting systems
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members while fostering a collaborative environment
- Support financial planning and operational decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and corporate financial policies
- Assist with system optimization and financial tools used across the organization
- Big Four public accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Prior leadership or team management experience
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations
- Ability to thrive in a fast-growing organization and support scaling operations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team development skills
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environments strongly preferred
- Experience with enterprise accounting systems; familiarity with industry-specific ERP platforms and expense management tools is a plus
- Base salary typically ranging from $130,000–$160,000 + discretionary annual bonus
