*** Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements are accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant
* Maintain integrity of the general ledger and financial close process
* Deliver reliable reporting that supports executive decision-making and EOS scorecard visibility
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
** Controls, Compliance & Risk Management
*** Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls and accounting policies
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and multi-state sales tax regulations
* Oversee audit readiness and external audit coordination
* Protect company assets through disciplined financial governance
** Cash Flow, Credit & Working Capital Performance
*** Provide strategic oversight of Accounts Receivable and Collections
* Partner with Credit Managers to reduce exposure and minimize write-offs
* Collaborate with Sales leadership on delinquent accounts, credit holds, lien rights, and legal remedies
* Ensure disciplined Accounts Payable processes, including positive pay and discrepancy resolution
* Strengthen working capital performance to support growth initiatives
** Leadership & Organizational Development
*** Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
* Establish clear expectations aligned with the Shepherd Compass
* Create accountability within financial processes and reporting structures
* Support cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, and Executive Leadership
** Improvement & System Optimization
*** Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and reporting efficiency
* Drive process improvements and system enhancements
* Leverage data and analytics to improve visibility and performance
* Support strategic initiatives and special projects aligned with company Big Rocks
** What Success Looks Like
** After 90 days, you and your supervisor should both be able to point to these markers:
* Financial reporting is accurate, timely, and trusted
* Month-end close runs on a disciplined, predictable cadence
* Internal controls are clearly documented and function effectively
* Credit exposure is actively managed with measurable improvement
* Executive leadership has clear financial visibility aligned to company scorecard priorities
* The accounting team operates with ownership, clarity, and accountability
