Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a Contract with potential for permanent employment in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving process improvements across accounting functions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support budgeting and reporting initiatives.

Responsibilities:

- Manage core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll coordination.

- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.

- Oversee billing, revenue recognition, and compliance with accounting standards.

- Monitor cash flow, conduct bank reconciliations, and manage expense reporting processes.

- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and variance analyses.

- Collaborate with department leaders to track budgets and profitability by account.

- Support audits, tax preparation, and maintain internal controls for financial accuracy.

- Implement and improve accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.

- Lead financial modeling initiatives and provide ad hoc analysis as required.

- Manage billing inquiries, invoice preparation, and resolve discrepancies efficiently. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial operations.

- Proficiency in Quick Books and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

- Strong understanding of general ledger, month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

- Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.

- Associate degree preferred but not required.
