Director of Finance And Accounting

Chesapeake Search Partners is in need of a Director of Finance who will be responsible for operating and improving the company’s financial function. This role owns day-to-day financial execution while also building the systems, controls, and processes required to support growth.

This is a hands-on role, not purely supervisory. The Director of Finance will personally execute critical work while elevating the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data across the organization. This role is critical to reducing financial risk, improving visibility, and building toward a culture of data-driven decision making.

• Own and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Ensure accurate, timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
• Maintain general ledger integrity across entities and divisions
• Improve cash visibility, forecasting, and liquidity management
• Oversee AR processes, billing accuracy, collections, and aging
• Oversee AP processes, approvals, vendor management, and payment timing
• Design and enforce internal controls to reduce errors, rework, and risk
• Own sales tax configuration, compliance, and filings
• Coordinate year-end tax filing and work with external accountants
• Ensure compliance across jurisdictions and business lines
• Proactively identify and mitigate financial and regulatory risk
• Own Sage Intacct as the system of record for finance
• Partner with Operations and Sales on system integrations

• 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
• Hands-on experience owning month-end close and financial reporting
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
• Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct strongly preferred)
• Experience with Sales Tax
