About The Organization & The Controller OpportunityA well-established construction organization in Baltimore is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Controller who thrives in a project-driven environment and enjoys partnering closely with ownership and operational leadership.
This organization offers long-term stability, a strong project pipeline, and a collaborative leadership team. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing construction accounting functions, strengthening financial controls, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business.

- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Manage construction accounting activities such as job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead cash flow management, forecasting, and budget development
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
- Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls and accounting policies
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax providers, and banking partners
- Analyze project financial performance and provide insights to leadership
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction financials
- Proven ability to manage deadlines, lead teams, and partner with operations
Location: Baltimore, MD (onsite 5 days per week)
Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000
